. . . Magical Elves

I am a simple shoemaker
Tired, I sleep in the night
Waiting for dawn
To behold a marvelous sight.

My shoes are polished
My table is cleared
My bag is packed
The bits of paper disappeared.

My alarm is dismissed
(Though it did not wake me)
My lost pencil is found
My uniform is laid out for me.

I fold the blanket covering me
That I’d forgotten in the night
And go to find the elves
Who’d again set everything right.

But there is only one elf here.
And she’s an angel too.
And I call her mom
And I love her too.

Happy Mother’s Day to all moms who save our necks in the nick of time.

(This is a poem co-authored by me and my mom. Hope you like it.)
